Thinking Ahead

Working in retail can be very bad for your internal clock. You think daylight savings time is bad? I’m half expecting Valentine’s Day merchandise to show up any day now. I wish I was joking. Anyone still complaining that it’s too early for Christmas merch to be out has clearly been stuck at home for the last two months.

Right now I’m in the middle of the Christmas spirit while all other normal people are having a hard time wrapping their minds around Thanksgiving next week. It’s all I can do to hold myself back from playing Christmas music and putting up decorations.

A couple weeks before the leaves on the trees even started changing colors, I put up autumn decor. I bought myself a glue gun (oh, the possibilities!) and made my own fall wreath. See:

The last couple of months I’ve been doing a lot of crafts. I have a stash of bath salts, room fresheners and lip balm that I made with essential oils. I’m coloring daily, (gotta get through the coloring books I have before I’ll let myself start the Christmas ones.) I’m even drawing and doodling.

Another thing that I’ve been doing ahead of time is mentally planning out my 2017 New Years Resolutions. This year I wanted to find out why I’ve gained weight in recent years. After testing and lots of patience, the common denominator is my family history. You know what that reminds me of? This quote:

“You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.” -Desmond Tutu

Now that I know, I get to start the super fun process of tracking my diet and exercise. It’s a good thing I’ve already cut out a ton of junk food. I still remember the days of drinking chocolate milk like most people drink water. Pop tarts for breakfast, cheetos for lunch, and pizza rolls for dinner. Oh, the days when I was single.

I’ll leave you with a picture of my 16 year old cat, I’m jealous of her.
